| Description: | Gothic-Renaissance castle with corner oriels and a unique entrance portal dating back to the beginning of the 16th century. A small town museum is located behind it. A viticultural tradition, cellars include a Baroque cellar built in 1748. Jewish cemetery; during restoration works Rafael Konig’s tombstone was found. He was the first Jew in the monarchy to be allowed to use the title of master and to conduct a trade outside the ghetto. Only some houses and a synagogue rebuilt into a community centre have survived from the Jewish quarter. An Evangelical church built in 1846 is among last built according to the Tolerance Patent, i.e. devoid of a tower, outside the main road and originally without an organ. |
