| The Moravian Museum is the second biggest and oldest museum in the Czech Republic – it was founded in 1817. Currently The museum's collections include over 6 millions of objects, representing valuable scientific material from the fields of literature, and science and it publishes some scientific and popular literature and in addition it organizes exhibitions, lectures and excursions. The main exhibition building of the Moravian Museum is Dietrichstein Palace in Brno at the Zelný Trh. It is one of the oldest palace like buildings in Brno. It was built in the years of 1613 – 1616 like a residence of Cardinal František Dietrichstein. At the end of the 17th century it was rebuilt into the current Baroque form. Currently it offers a lot of expositions, exhibition halls and Dětské Muzeum (Children´s Museum), which is the first museum in the Czech Republic that is fully devoted to the children´s visitors. In its interiors the Palace offers interactive exhibitions, composed programs for educational purposes as well as leisure time, holiday events and some activities for Saturdays as well as other events and activities. | |
