| National Park Podyjí is still the only national park in Moravia. It was announced on 1 July 1991 by a government to an area of 63 km2 in the most valuable areas of the former PLA Podyji. Podyjí National Park with its area of the smallest national park in the Czech Republic. Podyjí is situated along the Thaya river flowing through a 40 km long, deep valley between the meandering of Vranov Dyjí and Znojmo. At the southeast edge of the floor at the junction of Znojmo - Hnanice steppe zone is a unique harmony of moorland. The values of the park lie in the unique geomorphology and general upkeep Dyje canyon. We can find almost uninhabited 42 km of the river valley - it is the best preserved and least affected river valley in the Czech Republic. Interesting places of natural sites include: Clary Cross, New Castle or view Hardegg. |
