Folklore
Folk traditions are evident with every step in many areas of Southern Moravia. Colourful costumes, ancient customs and forgotten crafts are part of everyday life – not mentioning the characteristic dialects, gently lyrical or vigorous and rhythmic folk songs, dances and dulcimer music whose beauty can be enjoyed at Moravian folk festivals. In these days, the imaginary village gates open wide, as do the towns, and thousands of visitors let themselves be drawn into the whirlwind of folk traditions, customs, songs and costumes. Visits to open-air museums or original craft workshops with a rich choice of stylish souvenirs can be a pleasant variation to the wanderings through South Moravia. An improvised male recruits‘ dance - Slovácký verbuňk, performed in most municipalities in Moravian Slovakia became a registered non-material heritage of humanity by UNESCO.
