Nature attractions
South Moravia charms its visitors by the diversity and wealth of natural beauty. No wonder that UNESCO protects two areas here – the Lower Morava Biosphere Reserve (includes the Protected Landscape Area of Pálava hills and the floodplain forests at the lower reaches of Morava river) and the White Carpathians Biosphere Reserve. It was in South Moravia where the first Moravian protected landscape area - Moravian Karst - was declared in 1956 and where also one of the four national parks of the Czech Republic is located – the Podyjí (Dyje river area). You will discover carefully cultivated vineyards and orchards in South Moravia, numerous places with the occurrence of thermophile flora and fauna, large complexes of alluvial forests and water areas that are havens for waterfowl.
